  • Our campaign, in affiliation with the Chalk Back movement, platforms people's experiences of harassment which they can submit to us via an anonymous form.

We then chalk their experience to reclaim the place in which it occurred and empower people to speak out against harassment.

  • We accept submissions about any form of harassment from all identities in Sheffield.

We do not chalk experiences of rape or anything that could potentially be triggering to read.

Our movement is focused on empowering survivors rather than creating fear.

  • Despite Sheffield continually being named as one of the 'safest cities', harassment is widespread and normalised.

There lacks a system of support and justice.

While we focus on Sheffield, we are aware that harassment is an epidemic issue. Large change so often begins with grassroot activism.

Who we are.

Catcalls of Sheffield is a non-profit movement aiming to tackle all types of harassment in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It is one chapter of the global Chalk Back movement.

Frustrated by the frequent occurrence of harassment in the city, we began the movement in April 2024 to give receptors of harassment a platform to share their experiences. We believe every incident, no matter how seemingly “small” contributes to a broader culture of bigotry, so should all be challenged.

Whilst our focus is on harassment, we oppose all forms of bigotry, acknowledging that all struggles against oppression are interconnected. Our belief is that none of us are truly free until all of us are free. As a result, we aim to build a collection of resources on this website about a range of socio-political issues affecting marginalised groups across the world.
