VAWG Forum

At a Violence Against Women & Girls Forum in October 2024, we had the opportunity to meet a group of women from various sectors who work to tackle sexual harassment and gender-based violence in Sheffield. We presented some information about our campaign to them and also discussed current safety measures, Sheffield City Council’s sexual harassment survey, and November’s 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based violence.

How does this fit into our aims & values?

While we acknowledge that harassment and violence do not only occur towards women and girls, this forum provided us a space to share our work, engaging with activism face-to-face rather than solely online. We used the platform to spread awareness about the vast scale of submissions we have received, reaching individuals who are less likely to see our content on Instagram. We were also able to get a better insight into how policy-making might be used to tackle harassment, as well as sharing our perspective on what work needs to be done to create safer spaces for all.
